There are plenty of local Re-sorters baseball teams looking to make some noise in their region tournaments this weekend.
Brandon-Evansville, Alexandria and Ashby enter the Region 16C playoffs as the top three seeds out of the Resorters West. Carlos, Clarissa and Miltona do the same out of the East in the Region 14C tournament.
The Bluedogs enter 16C play as the defending region champions. They loaded up on pitching by drafting Osakis’ top hurler in Chad Zimmel. The Senators did the same by taking Kensington pitchers Eric Erickson and Randy Peterson.
All three teams out of the Resorters West kick off tour-nament action Friday night at 8. The Bluedogs welcome the Blackduck Decoys to Evansville, while Alexandria plays the Vergas Loons in New York Mills and Ashby takes on the Midway Snurdbirds in Menahga.
Carlos enters the 14C tournament as the top seeded team from the Resorters East. The Cougars drafted Jamie Thoennes from Urbank to help them with their playoff run. Miltona drafted pitcher Jered Fruedenberg from Urbank and pitcher Ted Gray from Long Prairie. Clarissa also went the pitching rout by taking Urbank’s Kyle Bettin to go along with catcher Codi Pascek from Long Prairie.
All three teams from the East kick off Region 14C play on Saturday. Clarissa takes on the Bertha Blazers at 10 a.m. in Sebeka. The Cougars battle Nisswa at 10 in the morning in Nimrod, while Miltona goes to Sebeka to take on Nimrod at 1:30 p.m.
The first three rounds of both the 14C and 16C tournaments will be completed this weekend. Round two action of the double elimination tournaments takes place on Saturday, while round three wraps up on Sunday. The fourth and fifth rounds will take place next Saturday, with the championships of both regions being decided on Sunday, August 15. For a complete bracket on each tournament, visit here.
