The Alexandria Blizzard’s 3-1 win over Minot last night set a franchise record as the eighth straight victory for this team. Alexandria also raised around $1,800 for the Jack Jablonski Fund on a night where 50 percent of the ticket revenue went to the Jablonski family.
The Blizzard never trailed against a Minot team that is really taking its lumps in its first season in the North American Hockey League. The Minotauros are 4-32-2 this season and have now lost 13 straight games. Their 10 points are an NAHL low.
The Blizzard has accounted for three of their losses during that stretch. Alexandria improved to 5-0 against Minot this season behind another nice night from Jacob Meyers and single goals in every period.
Seth Ronsberg got Alexandria on the board less than four minutes into the first with his 10th goal of the season. Craig Lindegard scored in the second to make it 2-0 before Aidan Cavallini scored in the third to make it a two-goal game after Minot had made it a 2-1 game a minute earlier.
Meyers has won every game during Alexandria’s eight-game winning streak. The Minnetonka native had 32 saves last night to improve to 19-6-1 on the season. His 2.03 GAA is currently fourth best in the league and his .930 save percentage is fifth.
Alexandria will have one more game against Minot tonight, Friday, at the Runestone Community Center before a big game with Bismarck on Saturday night. The Bobcats will come to Alexandria as one of the top teams in the NAHL with a 30-5-1 record. Their 61 points is second best in the league, behind Amarillo’s 67 out of the South Division. The game is set for 7:30 at the RCC.
